Walking in the Alps is a fantastic experience, fresh mountain air, pine forests, crystal clear streams and lakes, alpine meadows, not to mention the magnificent views. Try the 2432m Cornette du Bise, the climb is on well defined mountain tracks and takes a few hours, however the effort is worth it for the views over Lake Leman to Lausanne on the far side, turn around and look across to Mont Blanc. Near the summit you are virtually guaranteed to see a few Bouquetin (see photo opposite).
Other walks include the mountain above Chatel known as the Morclan, or why not try the Mont Grange the mountain opposite Chatel which has been protected by being made into a national park. From Chatel you can walk across the border into Switzerland. The choice of walks is endless, however to help you we have local maps and can help you plan your routes.
The less energetic walker can gain height by taking the chairlift or gondola, however this need not be seen as an easy option, it just gives you a head start on the endless trails.
Another essential part of your walk, is where to take luncheon? There’s no need to carry provisions, as lots of the high alpine farms sell the local cheeses, or try one of the many mountain restaurants which are open in the summer months. Just ask and we’ll help your plan your daily walk by pointing out the pit stops on route!!
